Clarion M309 CD/MP3/WMA Marine Receiver with USB Port Review

Purchased this product to replace a Sony head that didn't have be base sound I was looking for and also to get the IPOD Touch connection. Unit sounds great, easy to operate and the remote works ok for line of sight use. The reason I gave it a 4 is that I wish the Ipod hook up was in the front instead of the back of the unit. I ended up running another USB cable from the back to a front panel I had to cut and mount. I also attempted to buy the adapter for XM and install on this, but, gave up when the programming didn't work etc. Took the XM box stuff back and purchased a Serius box, which plugged straight in and works great.

Did not really want to get this because of the price, but finally gave in and ordered it for my 2005 Corvette to use with a Passport 9500ix. It mounted cleanly to the mirror and I have no worries about my expensive detector falling off the windshield because of weak or dysfunctional suction cup mounts. It is solid and very nice looking. This is an awesome, quality, well engineered product that I am glad I bought despite the price.

Neoprene covers are always nice (although I wish these were ribbed for a cooler look) but the top portion gave me difficulty on my 2011 Wrangler. You are supposed to pull the front velcro part through the seat and attach to the back. The tolerance is very tight and the velcro keep catching on the grippy texture of the stock seat fabric. The best I could do was stuff down deep in the crease. You only notice it if you recline the seat all the way back and some of the velcro will become exposed. I had no issues with the bottom part of the cover.

First I'd like to let anyone reading this know that I'm a trucker, so I use this thing all day, everyday.

First: it thought it was waaay expensive! And it is. But it was worth it because it's much better than changing stations every 10 seconds. And it tells my GPS route me around traffic and accidents.. which is amazing.

I use the XM Radio, Traffic, and Weather services - they all work great except the XM signal goes whenever I'm heading North-West. But the cord isn't long enough to reach outside my big semi so it isn't able to get the signal it needs. Other than that it's pretty darn good.
