Boy what an adventure!!!! Buyer BEWARE!!!!! I bought this strut in February but had quite an experience in May when i was installing. The strut is fine but DON'T use the nuts that come packed with the unit. I broke one of the mounting plate studs while installing and I was only at about HALF the specified torque. So I had to have the mounting plate replaced at a cost of around $65. Then when installing the strut again and taking all the precautions I could, using oil on the studs, tightening only a couple turns, letting it rest and starting over on the tightening sequence---yep broke another stud on the new plate. I was at 40 ft-lbs the the mount spec is 59-60 ft-lbs. So i was forced to buy another strut and of course the price went up another $25---so this easy strut job wound up costing me $370.00 for the originally priced item at $139.95. Funny I had no problem with the right strut. Did a little investigating. Found that the nuts packed with the left strut are grade 10 pinch nuts and the nuts that came with the right strut were NOT pinch nuts. Grade 10 yes but NOT pinch nuts. The studs on the mounting plates are only grade 8. Do the math. Grade 10 PINCH nuts do not give like a grade 8 stud so--SNAP--there you have it. I used the grade 8 nuts that were on the old strut and all is fine after waiting a week and shelling out $370.00 for a $140.00 part. Not very happy with this purchase at all. You'd think that the seller would Know better!!!! Amazon sold both but the right one came from a different place who packed the correct nuts in the box. LIVE AND LEARN.
