The manual states the Mazda5 is not designed for towing, don't believe everthing you read. This accessory gives the Mazda5 that little bit extra you might be missing when carrying 6 passengers. It allows you to pull a small trailer(wiring harness not included) or attach a bike rack or even put a luggage rack on the back.

I debated purchasing a roof rack or hitch and the hitch was significantly less expensive. It also doesn't affect the fuel economy the way a roof rack will. It does have nub inside the square tube to disallow some attachments to work. slight modifications might have to be made. It is there to prevent the user from attaching anything that can exceed the weight limit of this hitch.

I took me an hour to attach this, I have power tools and sockets that make it easy. The finished product looks very nice. only the receiver is visible below the bumper and you would never guess that it didn't come from the factory like that.
