I had the Power Stop kit (ceramic brake pad and cross drilled slotted rotors) installed on my 2004 Acura MDX by an ASE Certified auto shop (a well-reputed national chain). First things first, I let the brakes settle in for the first 5000 miles of use. Even at low speeds and mild braking events, I noticed that the braking was very competent with excellent grabbing feel.
On a recent visit to California, I was glad to have these brakes where going frequently from 70 to 10 mph seems to be the norm. The brake kit performed extremely well without any fade. I was just as glad to have these brakes on our return trip through Tahoe, and the mountain backroads of Colorado and New Mexico.
The only reason that I didn't award this 4 or 5 stars is because of an undesirable thing I noticed after about 12000 miles: it would make an unholy grinding noise at the end of a braking event just before coming to a full stop; this only happened when driving at the city speeds. Although I never experience this during highway braking, it never stopped unnerving me. Could it be that the pads and rotors in this kit really aren't well matched?
