Innovate Motorsports 3831 OT-2 OBD-II Wi-Fi Interface Review

Seems like a great product in the manufacturers description but it's a different story in practice.

I first tried to use this to data log some air fuel ratios, rpm and boost values on my 2002 Volvo S60 2.4T AWD. The first thing I noticed was how extraordinarily long it took to even connect to the ECU - 15 mins with turning the car on and off and switching between manual ISO mode and automatic. Seems like blind luck when it decides to finally synch up. Then I noticed that it is very slow to update values and continues to drop the ECU connection sporadically. I was able to log rpm but not AFR or boost values.

Then tried it on my 2006 Volvo XC90 V8 AWD, this time it synched up much quicker and updates very fast but continues to drop the ECU connection every few seconds.

If you read on the Innovate website forum you'll see many similar accounts where it wont connect, drops the connection and even causes ECU errors on some models. Added drawback is the support forum is absolutely dead, you see plenty of complaints and confusion but not a single response from Innovate.

Also the dyno function and 1/4 mile are useless when it drops the connection. Even scanning for DTC is hit and miss due to the limited connectivity.

It might work better on fords or evos but I have yet to find a car that it works as advertised. Sadly this will be the last Innovate product I ever purchase.

This oil is the best of the best. I am a retired mechanic of 34 years and I just about have tried them all. This oil has to be one of the best I have ever used. I still change my own oil and filters and I still use this oil. I have used it for more then 20 plus years and I have always had the same good results. It runs longer between oil changes ,up to 12,000 miles or more, with just a oil filter change in between.I have broken down motors and found very minimal wear even after 150,000 miles. Rings and bearing with little wear and cylinder walls with little or no tapper, camshafts and lifters also with very little wear for that kind of milage. The price may scare you a little, but you get to go longer between oil changes. I drive very little now days only about 2,500 miles a year if I am lucky. I still only change my oil once a year with an oil filter change every 6 months. I use this oil in a 1997 Toyota T100 4X4 SR5 and a 1998 Honda civic. I bought both vehicles new, and they both have over 85,000 miles on them and are doing great. I also use the redline transmission oil for both vehicles along with the transfer case and rear end oils for the 4x4. You just can not beat this product at any price..

As the first person to write a review, I feel it&#8217;s my obligation to be as thorough as possible. First and above all, let me say that I love this helmet. BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front), I would recommend this helmet every day of the week and twice (if not thrice) on Sunday. I also recommend that if you purchase this helmet, you get the 220;Shield Blade As Ext Sun&#8221; Visor to help with the sun (NOTE: Put that phrase in the Amazon search and It will pop right up). Both work great together. It took about a week for the helmet to come. I was excited and jittery because I have been looking at this helmet since March. I should have brought this helmet immediately. I live in the NOVA (Northern, Va.) area. I have a 30 to 45 min commute to work each day. There are HOV (High occupancy vehicle) lanes which allow for motorcycles. To save on gas, my plan is to ride my bike year-round. I have a summer helmet. I needed an effective fall/winter/spring helmet. Since I ride a cruiser style motorcycle, a full face helmet is not conducive to the way I ride. A half-helmet or � helmet works best. This is where this helmet comes in at. Here are the Pros and Cons:
Pros:
&#8226;The helmet fits great and is very comfortable.
226;It fits to size.
&#8226;The chin strap is a quick connect/disconnect. I am used to the straps that you have to weave through the metal to fasten. This straps slides in and easily slides out. I will find it hard to go back to other method.
&#8226;Lightweight, yet sturdy. The helmet is very lightweight, which scared me a bit. But when you put it on, that fear goes away. It does not feel as bulky as my Full-face helmet. I did buy a scooter-based � helmet thinking this will work. I immediately returned it because I did not feel safe riding with that helmet.
&#8226;Looks great! One of the main reasons I decided to ride because I wanted to look ̶0;cool.&#8221; Any rider will tell you that certain helmets mess up the &#8220;riding vibeR21; and some enhance it. This helmet is the latter. I have been looking for a � face helmet that looks good, feels comfortable, and is sturdy. This helmet has all three.
&#8226;Flat black! My Bike&#8217;s color primarily is flat black. This helmet goes great with it.
&#8226;The Visor locks in 4 different positions.
•;There is padding for the lower jaw for a more comfortable fit. This means that the chin strap does not ride up on your skin.
&#8226;There is a quick release to add/remove the External Sun Visor and the Clear Visor.
&#8226;Speaking of Visors, the Clear Visor and the External sun visor work great together. Ensure when you install the external visor, that you install the plastic/rubber washer between the External Visor and the Clear Visor. It comes with the external visor. The visor will not work properly without it. It will not stay up on its own. I did not put it on at first and was disappointed. As I was packing the boxes up to take to the basement, I found the washer and there was an 220;AhaR21; moment.

Cons: (NOTE: I had to think hard for some. That&#8217;s how you know you have a good product.)
&#8226;The instructions are 1st in Italian, then English. But you will get used to that.
̶6;The visor does not cover your entire face. Its stops right below the lips for me. At first I thought the helmet was too small, but once I had to keep adjust the chip strap tighter, I knew that it was the design. I was initially looking for the visor to come down past my chin but I am used it. This is after one ride!
&#8226;I do wish the colors for the wording were black but they are white stick out a bit. I am thinking of getting a little paint brush and painting that white a shiny black to offset the Flat black. But then again, I cannot paint worth a dang, so more to follow on that.

Again, get this helmet and you won&#8217;t be disappointed. Safe and happy riding!
