First off I have to say that the product was pretty easy to install. I also need to mention that it does work, just very poorly. I installed the equipment as directed in the instructions. It worked great while my TV was off as the Uverse box's green indicator light flashes when ever you press a button on the remote.However, as soon as I turned on my 60" Panosonic Plasma TV everything changed. After I could not get it to function properly I contacted Smarthome and did everything they directed but nothing worked. I even tried the tape over the transmitter and moving the receiver eyes in 100 different areas close to the IR sensor on my Uverse Motorola 1225 but still nada.I tried just about everything I could find in the forums and reviews.

The manufacturer states that it does work on all Uverse box's and it does... However like I said... It is not worth keeping unless you enjoy changing channels looking like your swatting at a fly. It would allow me to change the channel 4 or 5 times in a row (using the up or down arrow only) and then just quit until I waived the remote around for awhile and found another sweet spot. It was another story when I tried to change the channel by entering the numbers on the remote. Forget it... It would only recognize one or two at most and then always end up on a channel other than the one I selected.

A lot of reviews do not provide sufficient information to give the average consumer a good insite. Most of the reviews I read about IR repeaters do not provided enough information as to how one consumers equipment and setup compares to mine. So... you already know my equipment because I mentioned it above. Here is my setup. I have my 60" plasma mounted to the wall. Behind the wall is a storage area I built that is under my stairs. I gain access to this storage area through a closet that has an additional door inside of it, providing the access. The Uverse box is sitting on a shelf inside the original closet. So... Basically the wires come from my TV through the wall into the storage area and then are feed through another wall before connecting to my Uverse box. The direct distance from the TV to the Uverse box is about 5 ft but I used about 8 feet of cable after all the angles were included. The box itself is only behind a single interior door.

As I mentioned the product did work about 10% of the time but for over $100 that is crap. Maybe it will work better with a different TV due to the interference or using a different cable provider but I do not know and will not give it a second chance. Do not tell consumers it works with Uverse unless it works as it would if the box was directly in front of the TV. That is what is expected. Hell, even a little lag would have been exceptable but this was definately much more than that. I am very tech savy and no reason to explain why it didn't work so one must assume it is the quality. I have come too far with this project to give up so I will next be trying the Hot-Link Pro product. Although I do prefer the look of the Smarthome, if the Hot-Link works I will be satisfied. Also, you will see a lot of reviews mentioning how great the customer service is at Hot-Link... especially Marcus. That is absolutelty true. I emailed them from work explaining my problem and unwillingness to purchase another repeater just to return it because it was crap. Within 10 minutes Marcus called me back and discussed my setup and assured me the Hot-Link Pro will work. I ordered it and paid the extra $23 bucks (Order through Amazon cus its more expensive through the Hot-link website) to get it here next day (Saturday). Even with that it was still less than the the SmartHome device. Around $96 with the shipping. Marcus was also on vacation when he called... Wow. does he ever rest. I will repost once I get it installed to let you all know how it turned out. If it doesnt work then the next step is contacting a home theater company to have them figure it out.Good luck to you all and my apologies for the long winded review.
