JVC Bluetooth Digital Media Rec Dual USB (KDX80BT) Review

I researched a lot of Bluetooth Digital Media receivers, and based on reviews, cost, and some features I was looking for ....I felt this unit met the parameters I wanted. Although I am not an audiophile or techy, and really just your average joe, I felt this unit was a great bargain for the money. I have had it for a few weeks now and I am very happy with the purchase. The sound quality is great even without changing my speakers. Listening to some songs from my current music library (in some cases) is like hearing them for the first time. I can hear elements of songs that I never knew existed. it's pretty incredible actually !

The set up was easy. It paired easily with my iPhone 4s and the bluetooth feature works great. I haven't had any connectivity issues with calls and both parties can hear each other perfectly. I love when the call ends, it immediately returns to the song that was playing. The bluetooth also works great if i want to stream music from my phone (but I typically use the USB/iPod for music). Speaking of the USB, one of the features I was looking for was a rear USB port, as I don't like wires everywhere. The usb is easily hidden in a compartment above my JVC unit, and I keep my ipod in there. Additionally, the menu is easy to navigate to access your iPod features (artists, playlists, etc).

My only real complaints with the unit are really pretty minor.....or picky on my part. First, the manual isn't the greatest. However, once you get the general controls down, it is pretty user friendly and the set-up is relatively easy. Set-up wise, the only real difficulty I had was transferring the contacts from my iPhone to the JVC unit. Honestly, it eventually worked, but I wasn't exactly sure how i did it. My second complaint relates to the positioning of some of the controls/ buttons. As the driver, based on the position of the main knob (volume control/select), because the unit is to your right, you are using this knob with your right hand... In turn, your hand is then blocking the display screen. Again, not a big deal.....just a little irritating when you are trying to scroll through a music library or contact list.

Most of the reviews I read commented on the color choices relating to the display. The options really are endless. Additionally, I have not had any difficulties seeing the display in the daylight hours. Speaking of the display, there are also 3 or 4 options you can choose for the display screen. The three that I remember are:
1. the clock
2. artist /song/album (large)
3. artist/song/album (smaller font) but includes a bar at the bottom indicating how much of the track has played.
4. (i'm pretty sure there is a 4th one, but cannot think of it at the moment).

All and all..... very pleased ......and would definitely recommend it.
