Rampage 8625 Black Side Bar Review

I know how much tube steps cost, I've bought the best of them. But when I decided to build a Jeep on a tight budget, I bought these, hoping they weren't too bad.

In all fairness, here's what I like about them:
They're cheap.
My teenage daughter thinks they look tough on her Jeep.

Here's what I don't like:
The tubing is thin, and I'm guessing they're like every other cheap accessory- going to rot out in a few years.
The molded step is hard plastic, I can see it cracking underfoot in the winter when it gets cold.
The molded step is snapped into a cut-out recess in the tubing, which substantially reduces the strength and is just another opportunity for it to rust.
The mounting brackets bolt onto the body-to-frame mount bolts, putting enormous strain on those bolts, IF you can still get them turned loose. If your jeep is older and/or rusty you might snap them off or strip them in the process and then you're screwed. Mind you, these are 3/8" bolts, that you're putting 90 degree shear force on, UNDER a rubber mount which allows it to flex some. They DON'T feel solid.
The tubes themselves mount to their "L" brackets with one bolt, which threads into a plate lightly welded into the end of the tube. The bolts are probably metric, but look to be 3/8-7/16" diameter, and about 3" long. It looks REAL flimsy.
I've bought a LOT of parts, and built/fabricated a lot myself, too. These are just cheap Chinese junk. Unless you're throwing them on a Jeep to make it look better to sell: Don't waste your money. Spend the extra bucks and buy good, heavy duty steps that mount to the FRAME.

I bought some from Smittybilt for my Jeep, that mount to the frame with 6 bolts (vs 2 on these) and they don't flex a bit when I put my full weight on them. To be honest, I've put the Jeep's full weight on them HARD on rocks, and they didn't budge.
